Claribaccin is a pharmaceutical product that contains the active ingredient clarithromycin, a semisynthetic macrolide antibiotic. Clarithromycin is derived from erythromycin by substituting the CN3O hydroxyl group with an (OH) group in the 6th position of the lactone ring. This modification results in the formation of 6-Omethylerythromycin A, which is responsible for the antibacterial properties of clarithromycin.
