Urethane casting is a highly efficient and economical method for producing small series in various industries. This process involves creating a silicone mold based on a prototype, which allows for the duplication of the original piece. The flexibility of silicone enables the creation of intricate geometries without any demoulding issues. To replicate the properties of different plastics, a liquid polyurethane resin is used as the base material, which can be modified with additives. Depending on the material and desired surface finish, this process can yield between 15 and 30 parts. Urethane casting is particularly advantageous for small batch production and prototype development when the cost of producing expensive injection molding tools is not viable.
